HONEY HISTORY Otxin

Lantz was a necessary step territory between Pamplona and France, so many travelers who made this Travel decided to stay overnight in the village inn. According to legend, one of these visitors (represented in the carnival by the character of Honey Otxin) committed several robberies among the inhabitants of Lantz, and he was captured and tried by the villagers themselves. Thus, several residents of Lantz, accompanied by strong Ziripot, and hiding their faces to avoid recognition (txatxos) came to capture the evil thief sentenced to death by two shots and finally by burning in a bonfire in the middle of town square. While the evil Honey Otxin undertook his flight through the streets of Lantz, his horse, Zaldiko, enbestĂa Ziripot repeatedly, so blacksmiths unsuccessfully tried putting on its shoes. All this history is represented each year in the carnival of Lantz, ending today with the peak of the legend: the burning of Otxin Honey Thief.
